| Bioactivity | Phloracetophenone (2,4,6-trihydroxyacetophenone) is the aglycone part of acetophenone glycoside obtained from Curcuma comosa Roxb, with cholesterol-lowering activity. Phloracetophenone enhances cholesterol 7α-hydroxylase (CYP7A1) activity[1]. Phloracetophenone stimulats bile secretion mediated through Mrp2[2]. Related Catalog Signaling Pathways >> Others >> Others Research Areas >> Others Natural Products >> Phenols Target Cholesterol 7α-hydroxylase[1], Mrp2[2] In Vitro Phloracetophenone (2,4,6-trihydroxyacetophenone) is a cholesterol-lowering agent, enhances cholesterol 7α-hydroxylase (CYP7A1) activity, and elevates CYP7A1 mRNA level[1]. Phloracetophenone (1, 2, and 4 μmol/min) immediately and dose-dependently increases bile acid-independent bile flow in the isolated perfused rat liver[2]. In Vivo Phloracetophenone (2,4,6-trihydroxyacetophenone; 125 or 250 μmol/kg, intraduodenal injection) shows choleretic activity requiring multidrug resistance protein-2 (Mrp2) in rats. Phloracetophenone (40 μmol/min) partially prevents the E2-17G induced cholestasis[2]. References [1]. Charoenteeraboon J, et al.
